Computer games are so popular because people (mostly men) of all ages enjoy the feeling of being superior. Most males like first person shooters because it makes them feel powerful like they can do anything although in real ive they wouldn't feel like a hero running around shooting people. Car racing games also are very popular with people because it's something that you don't really do. To some it up people like computer games because they like to be involved, doing something they wouldn't usually be able to do.


Do computer games make you more violent?
I believe that if a child plays violent video games when they are young, they tend to grow up thinking that fighting and the use of guns is normal. Researches in the United States found that people become more violent out of the use of video games then out of watching violent films. They suggested that this could be because the person feels they are in control and are an active character within the game.

Computer games can make you more isolated as much time is spent on computer games as people find them fun and entertaining so prefer playing on games all day other than doing other things such as going out and isolating. For children who play games all day, when they reach an older age they may find it hard to make friends as they never socialised much when they were younger.

Do networked computer games make you more or less social?

Networked computer games do make you moer social as you are communicating over the internet making more friends that share the same hobbies and intersests. However, they can make you less social as you don't get to know the people around you as much as you become too busy playing online games which leaves you no time to socialise.
